A cracking time

by

Christmas (large version)Dorchester was alive with Christmas spirit as people braved the wet weather to enjoy last night’s Christmas Cracker event.

Full of seasonal cheer, Dorset’s waste prevention team chatted to residents about how to make the most of the food they buy and help save a few pounds this Christmas.

It is crackers just how much waste is generated, so here are some handy hints for a green festive season:

  • Impress your family and friends with tantalising leftovers recipes (opens in a new window) including Christmas pudding ice cream or turkey, mango and lime salad
  • Send an e-card this year
  • Reuse gift bags time and time again
  • Remember you can’t recycle shiny wrapping paper, so save it and reuse it
  • It’s party season, so if you’re planning to host a dinner party why not use the Love Food Hate Waste perfect portions planner  (opens in a new window) for advice on how much ingredients to use per person

In the run up to  Christmas we’ll be posting even more waste reducing tips and fun festive facts. So if you have a one, get in touch.
