Recycle now week: Ten years of recycling in Dorset

by

recycle for dorset familyRecycling has come a long way since the first Recycle Now week ten years ago. Here in Dorset recycling rates have nearly doubled; starting at 27 per cent, 2002/2003, and reaching 49 per cent in the first three quarters of this year. We should be proud to have one of the highest recycling rates in the country, but there is still more we could do

It is estimated that up to 85 per cent of weekly rubbish could actually be recycled; Why not try recycling something new this week? There are over 300 mini recycling centres located throughout Dorset which accept a wide range of materials not collected at the kerbside including drinks cartons, foil, and small electrical appliances.

The Dorset Waste Partnership also has some great offers on compost bins, so why not get composting and make the most out of your kitchen and garden scraps and make your own nutrient rich compost.
