Swanage community recycling centre is closed while investigations are carried out following a fire in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews attended the scene to put out the blaze in three waste skips in the site’s barn area. The Dorset Waste Partnership is assisting with investigations into the cause of the fire and will carry out structural surveys to assess any damage.

The centre is closed until further notice and will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.  The nearest household recycling centre is at Westminster Road in Wareham.

Please check back for further updates.
