Local families and members of Blandford Rugby Club met sporting heroes Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson on Tuesday when they came to help spruce up their new sports ground at Larksmead.

The rec won the national Kärcher Cleans Britain competition after it was entered by Blandford Forum Town Council’s clerk Linda Scott-Giles.

The A Question of Sport captains and Kärcher Deep Clean team were joined by the Dorset Waste Partnership’s town orderly Mike Fitches, volunteers, Rugby Club members and the Mayor of Blandford Forum Steve Hitchings.

Afterwards they took part in some  rugby and cricket on the newly levelled pitches, together with a demonstration of wheelchair rugby with members of Team Solent Sharks from Solent University.

Throughout the summer of sport, Kärcher is committed to encouraging the nation to clean up their communities with Kärcher Cleans Britain, and a network of cleans across the country are helping people to take pride in where they live and bring back some community spirit through sport.

Kärcher spokesman Arnold Bennett said: “This is one of the best turnouts we have ever had, and we’re very grateful for all the help Linda has given us.”
